everybody's challenge turning into mine / and overcame adversity
[He knows he's going to get scolded by Prince Aether. He knows and he doesn't really care, that other knight really had it coming.
He'd had a little spat with one of the other knights in the keep, a little disagreement over dinner, at least that's what Childe would have called it. In reality, he'd started the fight, running his mouth and delighting at the visceral anger he'd caused the other knight. A few words were exchanged, a bone from a finished chicken wing was flung at the other, and that's all it took before he was showing off his martial prowess in front of the rest of the keep. The guy got one good blow in before he'd beaten him unconscious, having to be pulled off of him before he went too far. No alcohol needed for that mess of course, since he reveled in making scenes like that.
And he never regretted it, at least when it came to his reputation. Which, of course, wasn't great. He'd always had a chaotic side and people steered clear of him because of it. But those people really aren't the kind he'd hang out with anyhow. He had his own agenda, and if he's being honest, no one could keep up with him.
He's trying to get back to his own quarters now, a nasty cut right across his eyebrow where he'd gotten punched. He swears the other must of had a ring on or something, a knuckle shouldn't of made a cut that big. But it hurt, and he has to constantly wipe the blood away or else it would trickle down into his eye. He's a bit preoccupied with making sure he can see that he doesn't see Prince Aether round the corner and begin to walk towards him.
When he removes his hand from his face, there's blood all over it, and still some that bubbles up and pools in his eyebrow again.
That's when he spots the other. Drat, he's in for it now...]

He catches sight of Aether approaching, recognizing the cape he's chosen to hide himself in only because he's seen it on more than one occasion. Childe's own cape hides his face, but it's nearly impossible not to make out the orange locks of hair that poke out from the top of his head in the front. The curse of having such a distinct hair color. He gestures silently at Aether, bringing both of their horses forward so they can go.]
Come, I've made sure that no one would be around to see us leave. Let's make haste before this privileged time comes to an end.
[He hands the reigns of Aether's horse to him, while swinging up on top of his own.]
The name of the bar is called Legend's End. I've been there a few times now. Try to keep up!
[He turns his horse to begin galloping towards the small village in question, the night air crisp on his face as the stars and moon show the path there.]
no subject
It feels like a new path has just opened.]
I can't wait!
[He laughs once they're far from the castle walls and soon a small village can be seen in the distance.]
no subject
Here we are. It's a lot bigger on the inside, and just my kind of place.
[When they enter through the doors to the tavern, the heavy smell of alcohol hits his nostrils along with the sound of chatter between everyone inside. It's a lively night, and he's glad to see it- it's a prime place to cause a little stir...
Ah, but he may have to hold himself back now, and begins to lead Aether right to the bar so they can order their drinks, not really caring if anyone recognizes them. In fact, if they got attention, then who knows what might happen.
Could be...fun.]
no subject
As they approach the bar, Aether grabs his knight's hand, before whispering to him:]
...Let's be careful when we're here, okay? [He's starting to get a little worried, but then again, he trusts his knight. Surely, Childe wouldn't get them into any sort of danger, especially now when they have conspirators plotting against the king... right?] So, um... what should I order?
[He tries to smile.]
no subject
That's right, you don't drink a whole lot, do you? I think I've got just the thing for you.
[He turns to the bartender, who's just come over from serving a few other louder patron. He recognizes the orange hair sticking out from under the hood, giving Childe a careful look.]
You got a lot of nerve showing up here again so soon.
Come now, [he replies,] I'm just here to show my friend a good time. I'm starting him out easy tonight. [He shoots a wink at the bartender, because easy has a lot of different connotations here.] Think you can make something as close to spodi as you can? The usual for me.
[The bartender scoffs at Childe, turning to make the drinks.]
Don't treat my bar like it's your own personal party. Besides, he's still going to be able to taste the alcohol.
[Turning back around, he gives Aether a large mug, the liquid red inside of it. It smells of fruit and nothing else.]
Careful, he's trying to kill you with that.
[Childe looks mock offended as the bartender slides him his own drink.]
C'mon, he'll be fine. I can drink several of those without repercussions.
[Bartender trying to ruin their fun, gosh.]
no subject
Is this really safe for me to drink? And what have you done in this place before?
[Surely, it must have been nothing good if Childe is already so infamous. Aether can only imagine a drunker brawl has happened or something of that sorts.
...Which would also mean that there's a possibility someone else will recognize the knight and won't like him showing up here.
The prince sighs. He really can't relax.]
no subject
I might of gotten into a few brawls or two here. It's not that big of a deal, everyone went home at the end of the night.
[Because they booked it before they could get hauled in, but he's not saying that.]
Take a sip. That's not a drink the usually serve at bars, but if he made it right it should taste mostly of just fruit punch. It just hasn't had a whole day to sit, if it were made correctly. Go on, it isn't going to kill you, no matter what the bartender says.
no subject
[He shakes his head, then stares a little more at the drink before taking a sip. It has a very fruity taste.]
It's... really not bad. [He takes another careful sip.] So how often do you go to bars like this to start fights?
[You have to get your fights somewhere, Childe.]
no subject
You wound me Aether. Sometimes, it's the other party who starts the fight with me.
[Sort of. He'll just instigate it even more if he sees the opportunity. He takes a drink of his own cup, satisfied with it- it's exactly what he wanted.]
no subject
And you're all too happy to fight them. I know you.
[He takes a look around the bar. This is the first time he gets to see how people spent their time outside the castle walls. They all seem so... free.]
At least you don't have to get bored at the castle.
no subject
It's true, I do have avenues of entertainment I can pursue outside of the castle. And you know...
[He leans in smirking.]
...you could too, if you'd like to come with me.
no subject
But I already went with you, so where else are you planning to take me?
[They probably shouldn't get too crazy considering the looming threat, but the prince doesn't want to think about that. Both he and his knight need to unwind from the stress and truth to be told, he's all too happy to follow Childe if only to make sure his knight can forget about worries.
So let them both be reckless tonight.]
no subject
I meant more that I'll bring you along with me more often, but since you seem interesting in exploring other avenues of opportunity tonight, then I don't see why I should deny you such an experience. [He inclines his head towards Aether's drink.] Finish that up, so then you can let your cares drift away for the evening.
[He looks to the bartender, waving him down.]
Another one for my friend here, will you? And another for me.
[Childe surveys the bar...wonder where he should start.]
no subject
As much as I'd want to say that I'd love to go with you as often as possible, it's probably not going to be that easy. [It may be a rare occasion, given his circumstances. All the more reason to go wild tonight.] So let's... dance?
[He notices some people jumping and dancing at the other end of the bar. It looks like none of the dances that Aether has ever done in his life, but then again he wants to learn, let loose, have fun.]
What do you say?
[He leans closer to his knight, grinning more as his hand boldly rests on Childe's leg. Gentle fingers run across it for just a short moment though, so the prince doubts anyone would notice.]
no subject
He glances over to the dance floor, and what he sees there is more opportunities than just a dance. So, naturally, he nods back to Aether.]
I think we could have a lot of fun doing just that. Grab your drink, and let's go.
[Beware though Aether, the storm of chaos is brewing in his eyes.]
no subject
As his knight nods to him to join the dances, Aether grabs his drink and follows him, ignoring the chaos that shines in the other's blue eyes.]
Yes, let's go.
[He takes a sip from his drink, before grinning at his lover.]
no subject
Childe finds some real estate for the two of them close to a table where Aether can set his drink down, waiting for Aether to join him on the dance floor.]
There won't be any ballroom dancing tonight, Aether.
[Commoners don't do that, and definitely not in a bar.]
no subject
Aether drinks some more, before setting the drink down and joining his knight.]
Oh, I'm well aware of that.
[It would be silly to ballroom dancing here. He's aware how crazy Childe can go, too, if allowed. Aether thinks that he's prepared.]
no subject
[He only grins at the response, taking Aether's hands in his own once he joins him. Childe's gaze sweeps over the bar, and he already knows what he's going to do to set his plan into motion.
The music is lively, and the knight's step is quick, challenging Aether even now with the dance. Even if Aether stumbles, Childe will wait for him to catch back up before leading the prince in the dance. He seems to be veering them closer to some of the others dancing, his face being the visage of joy as he dances with his beloved, making sure it doesn't betray what he's really up to here.]
Not bad! I didn't know you could dance this well.
no subject
He also never even suspects that Childe may have something else on his mind.]
I have a good teacher. [He laughs, leaning closer, but he still follows the steps, almost as if they were one being caught in the rhythm of the music.
It feels so good, so freeing. Aether loves every second and it's easy to see that.]
no subject
The most fun is always in the midst of chaos, and it follows the knight wherever he goes, or maybe it's more accurate to say that he makes sure it's swirling around him at every given moment.
In the middle of a particularly complicated move, Childe's foot secretly hooks out to catch the leg of a man that's double the build of both Childe and Aether combined, and yet somehow the knight's strength is enough to get him to trip into the nearest couple of people, causing them all to crash into a table. The knight purposely shoots a cocky grin at the guy just so he knows who did it before returning to his dance with Aether, as if nothing had happened at all save for a small 'hm' out of him.
The man picks himself up off the ground, stomping towards the pair until he grabs the ginger by the shoulder, causing their little dance to stop.]
Was that you who did that?
crawls back to this after 3984783 years...
But obviously, this is Childe we're talking about here. The prince should've known that his knight isn't coming here just to dance and grab a drink from the locals. He's here to cause trouble, as if fight was the only thing that would help him relieve the stress that has accumulated over the past days.
Aether's eyes widen when the man trips, then grabs Childe by the shoulder. Before he thinks this through, the prince reacts by stepping in, trying to separate the man from his knight.]
Please, leave him alone! It was just an accident... I'll make sure it won't happen again!
[He doesn't want confrontation, too aware that it may lead to them being found out and then who knows what kind of consequences would befallen them. They are already in a very unpleasant situation... they don't need more trouble.
...But he knows Childe doesn't think this way.]
no subject
Oh yes, surely it was an accident. Your leg just happened to be in the way of our dance...I never meant to send you flying off in a different direction for hogging the dance floor like you were.
[Childe's fangs are practically showing, looking relaxed and completely in control. But he's poised for a fight, ready to step in the minute a fist flies or even if he tries to touch Aether, which thankfully for Childe is what the man tries next.
The second he tries to sweep Aether to the side with his other arm, Childe is reaching out to grip his wrist, twisting it in a way that gets him to let go of the knight's shoulder. He walks with the man, the pressure and angle of how he twists him making him follow for fear or breaking it, Childe laughing all the while.]
Oh ho, what was that? You should know better than to lay a hand on him. I'm his knight, after all. It's my duty to see him return home safely.
[And with one swift movement, the knight grabs him by the arm, throwing him with ease into another table, dusting his hands.]
Now stay over there and don't bother us, hahaha...
no subject
Before the fallen man can recover or anyone else can stop Childe, Aether grabs his knight by the wrist and attempts to drag him out of building.]
We're leaving. [He hisses.
The people from the tavern observe them and that makes the prince all the more anxious. He fixes his hood with the other hand, hoping to hide his face as much as possible.
This is definitely not the kind of fun he wanted tonight. What if their enemy is watching? What if someone from the castle happens to be here? Both Aether's and Childe's position is difficult as it is. They don't need more trouble and yet...!
A frustrated sigh makes it past his lips as his grip tightens around the knight.]
no subject
Looks like fun time is over, as the knight winks at their audience as he's drug out of the bar. Angry grunts and yells from the man who's been chucked into a table resound from behind them, and instead of fighting Aether's pull, Childe goes along with him- the prince's will is law after all, so he starts laughing as his pace quickens. They'll have to make an escape instead.]
I don't suppose I'm in a bit of trouble with you now, am I now, Your Majesty?
[Aka he knows he's definitely in a little bit of trouble but c'mon he totally could have taken that guy! It was fine...
Childe beelines with Aether straight to their horses, the knight quickly untying them so his prince can mount his own.]
