everybody's challenge turning into mine / and overcame adversity
[He knows he's going to get scolded by Prince Aether. He knows and he doesn't really care, that other knight really had it coming.
He'd had a little spat with one of the other knights in the keep, a little disagreement over dinner, at least that's what Childe would have called it. In reality, he'd started the fight, running his mouth and delighting at the visceral anger he'd caused the other knight. A few words were exchanged, a bone from a finished chicken wing was flung at the other, and that's all it took before he was showing off his martial prowess in front of the rest of the keep. The guy got one good blow in before he'd beaten him unconscious, having to be pulled off of him before he went too far. No alcohol needed for that mess of course, since he reveled in making scenes like that.
And he never regretted it, at least when it came to his reputation. Which, of course, wasn't great. He'd always had a chaotic side and people steered clear of him because of it. But those people really aren't the kind he'd hang out with anyhow. He had his own agenda, and if he's being honest, no one could keep up with him.
He's trying to get back to his own quarters now, a nasty cut right across his eyebrow where he'd gotten punched. He swears the other must of had a ring on or something, a knuckle shouldn't of made a cut that big. But it hurt, and he has to constantly wipe the blood away or else it would trickle down into his eye. He's a bit preoccupied with making sure he can see that he doesn't see Prince Aether round the corner and begin to walk towards him.
When he removes his hand from his face, there's blood all over it, and still some that bubbles up and pools in his eyebrow again.
That's when he spots the other. Drat, he's in for it now...]

Oh yes, surely it was an accident. Your leg just happened to be in the way of our dance...I never meant to send you flying off in a different direction for hogging the dance floor like you were.
[Childe's fangs are practically showing, looking relaxed and completely in control. But he's poised for a fight, ready to step in the minute a fist flies or even if he tries to touch Aether, which thankfully for Childe is what the man tries next.
The second he tries to sweep Aether to the side with his other arm, Childe is reaching out to grip his wrist, twisting it in a way that gets him to let go of the knight's shoulder. He walks with the man, the pressure and angle of how he twists him making him follow for fear or breaking it, Childe laughing all the while.]
Oh ho, what was that? You should know better than to lay a hand on him. I'm his knight, after all. It's my duty to see him return home safely.
[And with one swift movement, the knight grabs him by the arm, throwing him with ease into another table, dusting his hands.]
Now stay over there and don't bother us, hahaha...

Before the fallen man can recover or anyone else can stop Childe, Aether grabs his knight by the wrist and attempts to drag him out of building.]
We're leaving. [He hisses.
The people from the tavern observe them and that makes the prince all the more anxious. He fixes his hood with the other hand, hoping to hide his face as much as possible.
This is definitely not the kind of fun he wanted tonight. What if their enemy is watching? What if someone from the castle happens to be here? Both Aether's and Childe's position is difficult as it is. They don't need more trouble and yet...!
A frustrated sigh makes it past his lips as his grip tightens around the knight.]

Looks like fun time is over, as the knight winks at their audience as he's drug out of the bar. Angry grunts and yells from the man who's been chucked into a table resound from behind them, and instead of fighting Aether's pull, Childe goes along with him- the prince's will is law after all, so he starts laughing as his pace quickens. They'll have to make an escape instead.]
I don't suppose I'm in a bit of trouble with you now, am I now, Your Majesty?
[Aka he knows he's definitely in a little bit of trouble but c'mon he totally could have taken that guy! It was fine...
Childe beelines with Aether straight to their horses, the knight quickly untying them so his prince can mount his own.]

...That's not the point, though. They shouldn't pick fights with random villagers, they have to keep a low profile!]
Just a bit? You're in a lot of trouble!
[Aether huffs. In a way he feels like a parent disappointed by their child's behaviour. When he looks at his knight he also feels like a parent that knows they can't stay angry for too long.
The prince quickly gets on his horse, then without waiting for the other he sets off.]
I'll make sure to think of a fitting punishment for you later. For now, we're going!
[The horse hurries ahead, but Aether then makes it take a sharp turn and run in the direction opposite of the castle. They're already out here, so why not ride off into the night? He's not going to tell Childe that. Not for now anyway.]

The knight only grins wider as he mounts his own horse, shooting a look behind him to see the man he's humiliated come out of the bar they were just in with a bottle in his hand. Childe manages to get his horse to take off right as the guy chucks the bottle at him, missing him as the little ball of chaos takes off into the night after his prince, laughing his head off. He's only sorry he didn't get to beat him a bit more, but for now this'll do- he's made Aether upset with him, but it was worth it.
He gets his horse to gallop after Aether, noting how the prince has gotta his horse to run the wrong way if he were to be going towards the castle, so it seems his punishment isn't going to happen back at home, but perhaps somewhere out here instead. Childe'll do his best to use that silver tongue of his to try to get out of it as much as he can, rapidly catching up before he finally joins his companion at his side.]
How exhilarating! It feels like it's been forever since I've had an opportunity to do something like that...
[Look at him, he's not sorry at all.]
Are you taking me somewhere to enact my punishment? I didn't take you to be the type to lure one out into the darkness to seal their fate, hahahaha...
no subject
You're right about that, but I believe you deserve special punishment for your unruly behaviour. Something, that will really make you reconsider what you've done.
[They reach the forest and from there, Aether takes another turn. It takes them few more moments before they reach a familiar spot with willow trees, the same that they visited to spend their time alone during the hunt. At night the scenery seems serene, with moon casting soft light at the trees, making the curtains of white over them almost glow in the darkness.
What a wonderful sight, but they're not here to admire it.
Aether dismounts and allows his horse to rest.]
Well then my knight. You are not allowed to touch me, unless you prove to me that you are regretting your actions.
[He glances at Childe. He's serious!]

He follows his prince into the trees, appreciating the view and how the light reflects off of a small pond near them as he brushes some of the willow branches aside as they ride inward. Dismounting alongside Aether, he pats his horse once to let it know to rest, trotting up in front of a very annoyed prince.
What.]
Hey, I was only having a bit of fun. He was alright, you should have seen how hard he threw that bottle at me as we rode off into the night!
[Wow this is such an unfair punishment???? He's never going to regret his actions. Plus he's been really stressed out, how is this fair to him at all! Childe wears the most pouty expression, the moonlight illuminating his face as he whines.]
Listen, I'm sorry for embarrassing you a little bit back there. You know, you're only punishing yourself as well by doing this anyway...
no subject
You really don't understand, do you? You didn't make me embarrassed. You didn't care that our identity could be revealed - that's what bothers me the most.
[He presses a hand to his temple, massaging it. His steps are quiet as he walks towards the water. The reflection still shows a man in a hood, but the golden hair peek out and he can imagine how easily he could be recognized in that tavern if the hood slipped away.]
What if a guard or a servant from the castle decided to spend the night there? What if a spy of our enemy lurked in the shadows? What if... There's so many "what ifs", Childe. As much as I understand your frustration and as much as I trust your skill, if anyone knew it was me, it would only make things worse.
[He sits down so abruptly as if his knees gave away under him. He drops his hood revealing golden hair and letting it fall easily down his shoulders.]
It really would've been better if I stayed behind in the castle. [He had fun, it's true, but they've gotten caught too many times by now. Someone always seems to come find them at the wrong time and they can't allow themselves any more carelessness.]
