everybody's challenge turning into mine / and overcame adversity

[He knows he's going to get scolded by Prince Aether. He knows and he doesn't really care, that other knight really had it coming.

He'd had a little spat with one of the other knights in the keep, a little disagreement over dinner, at least that's what Childe would have called it. In reality, he'd started the fight, running his mouth and delighting at the visceral anger he'd caused the other knight. A few words were exchanged, a bone from a finished chicken wing was flung at the other, and that's all it took before he was showing off his martial prowess in front of the rest of the keep. The guy got one good blow in before he'd beaten him unconscious, having to be pulled off of him before he went too far. No alcohol needed for that mess of course, since he reveled in making scenes like that.

And he never regretted it, at least when it came to his reputation. Which, of course, wasn't great. He'd always had a chaotic side and people steered clear of him because of it. But those people really aren't the kind he'd hang out with anyhow. He had his own agenda, and if he's being honest, no one could keep up with him.

He's trying to get back to his own quarters now, a nasty cut right across his eyebrow where he'd gotten punched. He swears the other must of had a ring on or something, a knuckle shouldn't of made a cut that big. But it hurt, and he has to constantly wipe the blood away or else it would trickle down into his eye. He's a bit preoccupied with making sure he can see that he doesn't see Prince Aether round the corner and begin to walk towards him.

When he removes his hand from his face, there's blood all over it, and still some that bubbles up and pools in his eyebrow again.

That's when he spots the other. Drat, he's in for it now...]

[Aether grins, then finishes his drink as fast as possible, before finally setting the empty mug down.]

As much as I'd want to say that I'd love to go with you as often as possible, it's probably not going to be that easy. [It may be a rare occasion, given his circumstances. All the more reason to go wild tonight.] So let's... dance?

[He notices some people jumping and dancing at the other end of the bar. It looks like none of the dances that Aether has ever done in his life, but then again he wants to learn, let loose, have fun.]

What do you say?

[He leans closer to his knight, grinning more as his hand boldly rests on Childe's leg. Gentle fingers run across it for just a short moment though, so the prince doubts anyone would notice.]

[He can definitely see the way Childe's eye flick to the touch. The prince laughs softly under his breath as he withdraws his hand. He's feeling all kinds of bold tonight! But then he thinks he still has some limits.

As his knight nods to him to join the dances, Aether grabs his drink and follows him, ignoring the chaos that shines in the other's blue eyes.]

Yes, let's go.

[He takes a sip from his drink, before grinning at his lover.]

[You don't know, maybe he still will!

Aether drinks some more, before setting the drink down and joining his knight.]

Oh, I'm well aware of that.

[It would be silly to ballroom dancing here. He's aware how crazy Childe can go, too, if allowed. Aether thinks that he's prepared.]

[It's difficult at first. The pace is much faster than anything he's ever danced before, the movements much more unpredictable, but Aether is always up for the challenge. He grins and lets his lover lead him into the dance. It's gets easier to follow after a moment, maybe because it's Childe he's dancing with. The prince smiles with pure joy and forgets they are in the room with other people.

He also never even suspects that Childe may have something else on his mind.]

I have a good teacher. [He laughs, leaning closer, but he still follows the steps, almost as if they were one being caught in the rhythm of the music.

It feels so good, so freeing. Aether loves every second and it's easy to see that.]

[The prince lives in blissful ignorance, enjoying the music and the dance that his lover introduced him to. Why anything else would matter?

But obviously, this is Childe we're talking about here. The prince should've known that his knight isn't coming here just to dance and grab a drink from the locals. He's here to cause trouble, as if fight was the only thing that would help him relieve the stress that has accumulated over the past days.

Aether's eyes widen when the man trips, then grabs Childe by the shoulder. Before he thinks this through, the prince reacts by stepping in, trying to separate the man from his knight.]

Please, leave him alone! It was just an accident... I'll make sure it won't happen again!

[He doesn't want confrontation, too aware that it may lead to them being found out and then who knows what kind of consequences would befallen them. They are already in a very unpleasant situation... they don't need more trouble.

...But he knows Childe doesn't think this way.]

[Aether watches the scene unfold with a growing fear in his stomach. "I'm his knight" Childe says and it finally occurs to the prince that Childe never had any intention to hide their identities. He walked in here wanting a fight, wanting chaos and he was ready to show to the world that the prince was with him.

Before the fallen man can recover or anyone else can stop Childe, Aether grabs his knight by the wrist and attempts to drag him out of building.]

We're leaving. [He hisses.

The people from the tavern observe them and that makes the prince all the more anxious. He fixes his hood with the other hand, hoping to hide his face as much as possible.

This is definitely not the kind of fun he wanted tonight. What if their enemy is watching? What if someone from the castle happens to be here? Both Aether's and Childe's position is difficult as it is. They don't need more trouble and yet...!

A frustrated sigh makes it past his lips as his grip tightens around the knight.]

[He can hear people yelling after them and he wouldn't be surprised if the angry man started a chase. Aether quickens the pace, not looking behind until he hears the laugh resounding from Childe. His knight really is impossible. Acting as if all of this was just a game! And the prince knows, he knows that Childe would easily defeat each one of these people.

...That's not the point, though. They shouldn't pick fights with random villagers, they have to keep a low profile!]

Just a bit? You're in a lot of trouble!

[Aether huffs. In a way he feels like a parent disappointed by their child's behaviour. When he looks at his knight he also feels like a parent that knows they can't stay angry for too long.

The prince quickly gets on his horse, then without waiting for the other he sets off.]

I'll make sure to think of a fitting punishment for you later. For now, we're going!

[The horse hurries ahead, but Aether then makes it take a sharp turn and run in the direction opposite of the castle. They're already out here, so why not ride off into the night? He's not going to tell Childe that. Not for now anyway.]

[The laugh echoes in the night air, making Aether all the more unhappy. The prince can't understand how Childe can be so casual about it, almost as if he played a fun game and won. As the knight joins him, Aether barely spares him a look.]

You're right about that, but I believe you deserve special punishment for your unruly behaviour. Something, that will really make you reconsider what you've done.

[They reach the forest and from there, Aether takes another turn. It takes them few more moments before they reach a familiar spot with willow trees, the same that they visited to spend their time alone during the hunt. At night the scenery seems serene, with moon casting soft light at the trees, making the curtains of white over them almost glow in the darkness.

What a wonderful sight, but they're not here to admire it.

Aether dismounts and allows his horse to rest.]

Well then my knight. You are not allowed to touch me, unless you prove to me that you are regretting your actions.

[He glances at Childe. He's serious!]

[He's silent for a moment, standing still, gaze indignant, but eventually he shakes his head and turns his back on his knight. A deep sigh escapes him.]

You really don't understand, do you? You didn't make me embarrassed. You didn't care that our identity could be revealed - that's what bothers me the most.

[He presses a hand to his temple, massaging it. His steps are quiet as he walks towards the water. The reflection still shows a man in a hood, but the golden hair peek out and he can imagine how easily he could be recognized in that tavern if the hood slipped away.]

What if a guard or a servant from the castle decided to spend the night there? What if a spy of our enemy lurked in the shadows? What if... There's so many "what ifs", Childe. As much as I understand your frustration and as much as I trust your skill, if anyone knew it was me, it would only make things worse.

[He sits down so abruptly as if his knees gave away under him. He drops his hood revealing golden hair and letting it fall easily down his shoulders.]

It really would've been better if I stayed behind in the castle. [He had fun, it's true, but they've gotten caught too many times by now. Someone always seems to come find them at the wrong time and they can't allow themselves any more carelessness.]
