The Bet

Yo, Yoimiya!

[The booming voice of Arataki Itto resonates throughout the small apartment they share in downtown Inazuma, a loft that came relatively cheap for its location in the city. The buzzing of cars and people passing by the third story window could be heard all throughout the place, walls thin as a sheet of paper. But with it all comes the excitement of the city, and for these two, a plethora of food to gorge themselves on whenever it came time to feed. Inazuma in this day and age has everything to choose from, and food filtered in from all over the world.

It was a perfect set up for them both.

But for now, Itto sits at their small kitchen bar, eating his dino-shaped chicken nuggets that he'd microwaved from out of the freezer. On the plate is some barbeque sauce to dip them in, and he of course is trying to talk to her with his mouth full.]

Ain't it about time we go out and do some grocery shopping? MAN my stomach has been rumbling for the past week or so.

[In goes another dino nuggie, eating them up like they're water.]

If I don't get some food in me soon, I'm gunna shrivel up and wither away! Hey, you think I could talk Shinobu into...I MEAN, ahem, do you think she'd do us a solid and find us a sweet spot to pick up from?

[ When it's all said and done, Yoimiya needs a moment to catch her breath because whew, he really did steal her breath away during that incredible makeout session. She couldn't be any happier to see that gorgeous face smitten with pure need for her. No doubt she still has a long way to go before he fully gives in, Ajax was going to be a tough nut to crack from the get-go. But... she gets the feeling she's slowly but surely, chipping away at his resolve.

And then, he calls her beautiful...

It's not the first time she's heard it but there's something about the way he says it while looking completely and utterly enamored with her that causes her heart to race like no other. For a moment, Yoimiya is silent, almost taken aback by his sudden confession until her lips curve into a sweet smile. ]

No, it wasn't. That's one of the sweetest things anyone has said to me.

[ Now that the mark is complete, she pulls her hand away from his neck to cup the side of his face. ]

In fact, I think you're the most handsome guy I've ever had the pleasure of meeting up with.

[Relief swells up inside of him. For a second, he got worried that maybe he took that too far. He really is having a hard time controlling his mouth, but a girl like her...she feels like a steal. Like luck itself decided that it was going to bless him with this wonderful girl.

But, another part of him is still burned, still cynical...the reason why he's not so willing to just throw himself fully in with someone else.]

Hahaha...I'm honored you think so. I truly hope that's the case.

[There's a tinge of sadness and hurt in his eyes, underneath a thick layer of genuine joy. It's hard to see, but it's there, only visible because his inebriation can't manage to hide it.]

I guess that means we'll be able to see each other again? Haha, sorry I got so drunk on our first real date...

[Polite drunk boy Ajax starting to apologize for everything now...]

[ It's faint and could have been easily missed if she wasn't already lost in his visage. Behind those beautiful blue eyes is what appears to be sadness, a hint of heartache and dejection. Yoimiya isn't sure what to make of it and for all she knows, she could just be seeing things thanks to the alcohol's strong hold on her.

But...

If her mind isn't playing tricks on her, she can't help but wonder if Ajax has been hurt in the past. Even when he's drunk, he's being so polite and wary... ]

Hey, no need to apologize! I think you're cute when you're drunk. You say the silliest things and you even managed to become a pro at chopsticks.

[ And oh boy, she can't wait to show him the video when they're sober. Giggling, she moves her hand from his cheek to the top of his head to try and cheer him up a bit. Pat pat pat. His ginger curls are so soft! ]

If anything, I say we should get drunk more often! I bet you're a blast to play games with when you're intoxciated, hahaha.

[That does seem to brighten his spirits. The cute little pats to his head and the encouragement does wonders for him, always loving when he gets a little praise. And he's pretty sure she's not lying to him just to make him feel better. They had a lot of fun today, and for as much as he likes drinking, he's glad that she'd do it with him again.]

I can think of a few games you'd enjoy drunk. In Snezhnaya, we like our drinking games quite a bit. I bet you'd love it.

[Yoimiya manages to wipe his discomfort and sadness away, and he's back to his happy drunk self again, ready for more silliness and more kissing, if she'd like.]

We'll play a few the next time we decide to tip a few bottles back. Then, maybe I can introduce you to my favorite drink. I'm warning you, it'll put a bit of hair on your chest. It's not one for the weak-spirited.

[ Honestly, she feels didn't do much but it's great to see him perk back up from her touch and praise. She can't imagine what he's been through but even if she can't change the past, she's determined to give him better memories he can look back on. And hopefully, he'll be able to look back on this night with fondness. ]

Ooh, I'd like that a lot! Since you're pretty competitive, I bet you're a treat to play games with. I think I know the drink you're talking about... it's called Fire-Water, right? I've heard about it but never had the chance to try it for myself.

[ Mostly because she wasn't sure if she'd be able to handle it but since it's Ajax's favorite drink, she's more than willing to give it a shot. ]

If you ever get the urge to play other games, you can stop by my place anytime you want! My roommate is also extremely competitive and I think the two of you would have fun bonding over games and drinking the night away, hehe.

[ And let's be real, Ajax will probably win but she won't tell him that. ]

[Ajax seems to drunkenly sway a little in a circle, clearly happy that Yoimiya's heard of the famous drink from his homeland. He's impressed that she guessed it without him even having to tell her, and it'll be even more exciting when they can go shot for shot with each other to see who can handle their liquor. Unbeknownst to him, Yoimiya's got a huge advantage over him, even with his alcohol tolerance. One day, he'll understand why he lost...

But for now, he looks happy and eager to take on Itto.]

Yeah, that sounds fun! I'd love to. I'll bring enough Fire-Water for all of us, and we can spend a Saturday drinking together. I'll have to bring some of my own games from home too...

[He's too drunk to figure out the details now, so Ajax chooses to lean into her, humming happily and freely as he nuzzles the side of his head into her own.]

Tonight has been a real treat, Yoimiya. I haven't had this much fun in a while. I couldn't be more happy about having our chance encounter yesterday...I'm only sorry that our night will end soon. Thank you for taking me out to see the jellyfish, it was a breathtaking sight.

[ Score! Truly, she's been dying to see how well he gets along with her roomie. She cab already picture them being a comedy duo in the making. Itto will probably like Ajax just for bringing games to the house. But they'll plan the details later. Right now, she just wants to focus on the incredible man right in front of her.

With warmth blooming in her chest, his little nuzzle sets her heart ablaze. Though she still has a long way to go before her plans are fully enact, Yoimiya is happy with the evening ending in peaceful bliss. ]

Don't mention it! Everyone who visits Inazuma needs to see the jellyfish once before they go back into the depths of the ocean. Maybe on our next date, we can swim with the dolphins.

[ It's no shark but she still has a feeling he'll enjoy playing with dolphins. ]

Think you can take me back home? The alcohol is finally getting the better of me, hahahaha....

[He's never gone swimming with dolphins before, and that sounds really fun. It beats Snezhnaya where if you go under the ice to go swim with anything, you have to pray you'll find the hole again just to make sure you don't drown underneath the ice.]

Of course I can. I suppose we both had a little too much, huh?

[Not that he's complaining. He feels a lot less bad about drinking too much now, and he's looking forward to the next time they get together. Of course, they don't have to drink, but it wouldn't hurt things...]

C'mon, let's go, before we're both too drunk to find our way back. Uuuuuupsie daisy.

[He offers his arm for assistance, to help her stand with him, which is a terrible idea. He can barely balance himself, and it's more likely they'll just fall over instead of standing up together.]

[ He could say that again. Yoimiya isn't one to shy away from alcohol but goodness, it's been a minute since she's gotten this drunk before. All the sake and beer they had certainly did a number on them. And if the rumors are true and Fire-Water is way stronger... they're gonna be totally and utterly wasted.

On second thought, she might not invite her roomie to their Fire-Water and gaming session. Not sure if she wants to deal with a drunk beyond high heavens!Itto...

Though it's difficult to even find her footing on the ground, she's so thankful for Ajax's assist. No doubt she would have fallen and landed flat on her face if it weren't for him. She shoots him an appreciative smile, takes his arm, and slowly, but surely manages to stumble her way back onto her two feet. Never mind that she's wobbling the entire time. ]

I'm glad I have a tall pillow to land on in case I fall. My nice, firm Ajax pillow, hehehehehe.

[ Speaking of her Ajax pillow— she falls into his side with a small thud while giggling like a mad woman. ]

[Up they go, and somehow he manages to stay balanced for the moment. Ajax snorts in amusement at getting called an Ajax pillow, finding her giggles really adorable. He can't help but giggle along with her too, especially how she falls into his side, his arm coming around her instinctually to hold her there and keep her nice and safe, right next to him.

Warmth blossoms in his chest, and he wonders idly, if Yoimiya is the girl who just might get him out of this funk he's in. The girl who can break his walls down, finally, after so long. He hasn't felt so lighthearted since back then...]

Haha, now I'm your pillow, huh? Hahahaha, I hope I'm soft, at least. You can't buy a pillow like me from the store, you know, so make sure you take good care of me. I need regular washings and plenty of quality time with my designated owner.

[What is he even saying? Not even Ajax knows. He's just having fun, rolling with it, and laughing at how silly they're both being.]

[ His giggles are like music to her ears, the sweetest symphony she's heard all night. It's so infectious that she can't help but laugh even harder, thoroughly amused that he's going along with her silly names. He's a keeper for sure. Anyone who plays along with her dumb jokes is the perfect catch. ]

Of course! As your owner, I promise I'll take good care of ya. I'll give you lots of massages, nice warm washing, and plenty of love and care so you'll never be lonely.

[ Is she talking about a pet or a pillow at this point? Who knows. No one knows when it comes to Naganohara Yoimiya. Still giggling, she presses her face against him and practically drowns in his warmth. Yup. She's definitely claimed the Ajax pillow for herself... ]

You'll always be well taken care of under my watchful eye.

[ And to show she means it, Yoimiya stands on her tiptoes, nearly wobbling but determined to keep her balance, all so she can place a cute kiss on his cheek. Chuu! A kiss for the Ajax pillow. ]

[Too cute. He loves how she presses her face into him, nuzzling into him like he really was a pillow that she could sleep with comfortably all night. It's funny how the tables are turned, he's so used to being the one protecting that it's endearing how Yoimiya takes charge and promises that she'd be the one taking care of him. Sealed with a kiss...she's too cute for her own good. Who gave her this much power.]

I feel safer knowing that. Hahahahaha, c'mon, let's get you home.

[Feeling incredibly comfortable with her, his arm wraps around her waist and tugs her in as they walk together, off of the shore of the island back to the city proper. There's no doubt that the two of them are terribly drunk, laughing together and having fun until they finally reach Yoimiya's place, where he'd taken her home just the night before.

The last two days have definitely changed the trajectory of his life, but he doesn't think about that too hard as they stop.]

Here you are. Make sure you eat a little something and drink some water before bed. We'll see who's hangover is worse tomorrow, haha.

[He drank more but she's smaller, so it'll be a toss up as far as he knows.]

[ For her part, Yoimiya certainly feels safer knowing she's got a strong man willing to walk her home in the dead of night. Ain't no one messing with a guy who fought a shark with his bare hands. Not that she needs the protection but he doesn't need to know that.

She's met with a pang of emotions once they make it back to her place. On one hand, she's ready to roll into bed and prepare for the awful hangover in the morning but on the other, she had so much fun with Ajax that she doesn't wish for this day to end. However, all good things must come to an end eventually and she can't keep Ajax out all night. After all, he's not like her, his body is built differently. ]

Hehe, you too! A good Inazuman remedy for hangovers is miso soup. If you don't know how to make it, I'll text you a recipe before I hop into bed. Just be sure to tell me all about your terrible hangover tomorrow, hahaha.

[ She might be a little different but hangovers still affect her and boy, she already isn't looking forward to it. ]

Thank you for today, Ajax. I had a blast... I hope we can do this again sometime soon.

[ With no other words, Yoimiya loops her arms around his shoulders, stands on her tiptoes to press her lips against his for a sweet parting kiss. ]

[Miso soup...he'll have to remember that. Snezhnayans have their own home remedies for this, but he definitely wouldn't mind adding an Inazuman one to the list.

He smiles fondly at her as she wraps her arms around him, craning his neck down so she has an easier time planting that nice, sweet kiss to his lips. Ajax's eyes close to savor it, feeling light and happy with how the night went. He'd had such a good time, he also hopes that their schedules will allow them to see each other again soon. Any worry he had that Yoimiya was just humoring him from the night before vanishes- he genuinely felt that tonight had been fun enough that sex wasn't even in the cards.]

I'd love to see you later this week. I'll text you tomorrow, and we can figure things out.

[Ajax leans down to press a kiss to the top of her head, letting his hand come up to brush his thumb against her cheek before he turns to head home himself.]

Goodnight, Yoimiya.

[And off into the night he goes, so he can try to get some rest himself.]

[Ajax's dreams that night are wild and full of fantasies he'd never even been able to imagine before. Yoimiya fills his thoughts, showing him vivid scenes of the two of them drowning in every carnal desire they could ever want for, and when he wakes his eyes are blurry and unfocused. Scenes of Yoimiya dance in the glow of the morning sun in front of him, before his mind finally allows him to clear those from his vision. His body pleads with him to follow through with those fantasies, and he groans as he obeys, letting himself finish to thoughts of the golden haired girl who he'd taken out the night before.

Later in the morning, now taken care of and craving something to eat, he retrieves the home remedy for a terrible hangover he made out of the fridge. Downing the pickle brine, he groans as he holds his head. He really did drink way too much sake last night, but it was such a good time, is he really going to complain about it?

Opening his phone, he texts Yoimiya immediately, their little hangover competition being the first thing on his mind.]

hey, how'd you sleep? my hangover was pretty bad this morning just like i was afraid it would be

[ Oh, boy. It's rare for her to let a hangover get the better of her but this is without a doubt, the worst headache she's had in a long, long time. Even though she doesn't regret a single thing about their outing, she might make a point to hold back on the alcohol just a tad. She doesn't want to deal with another headache like this for another 50 years...

It takes some time but she eventually crawls out of bed to make a quick serving of miso soup. Naturally, she doesn't miss a beat closing the curtains to make sure not a speck of sunlight pokes in her shared apartment. If Itto whines about the darkness, he'll just have to deal with it.

As soon as she sits down to enjoy her soup, she hears her phone vibrating. Yoimiya picks it up at lightning-fast speed, hoping that it's Ajax sending her a message. And sure enough, her day is instantly made when she sees the sender. It's like her prayers have been answered! She wastes no time sending a message right back to him. ]

HEY!!!!!

could have slept better! (˚ ˃̣̣̥⌓˂̣̣̥ ) but it wasn't the worst sleep i've gotten.
my head is killing me though!!!! so i'm just chilling a dark room away from sunlight.

if you'd like, i can have someone deliver a warm serving of clam miso soup to you.

[ The day of their second date arrives, and Yoimiya isn't hiding her excitement as she hums while feeding Hanabi her favorite fish flakes. Their first date went so well, with Ajax proving himself to be not only good-looking but also an absolute riot to be around. There's no doubt in her mind this day will be full of joy and laughter with Ajax at the helm. She made sure to throw on an outfit that will hopefully get his eyes to pop out of his sockets just a bit. Along with her cute self, she's got ingredients for various Inazuman dishes, and a box of a rather peculiar sake that she's excited to show him. With everything set, she's more than ready to bust out the door the moment she hears a knock. ]

Alright, Hanabi! I'm gonna be heading out for a little while. Make sure Itto doesn't get into trouble while I'm away, okay?

[ It might be hard to tell because y'know, Hanabi is a fish but even this small goldfish can't hide the fact she's unimpressed at the idea of being stuck in the house with that loud, obnoxious guy. She'd rather be left alone than deal with that walking nuisance.

"Why can't he fuck off elsewhere?"

But alas, life is hard when you're Hanabi, especially when your servant is unable to hear your complaints. ]

[And with that, their second date is set. He's looking forward to it. For now, he'll nurse his hangover, and take care of himself the rest of the day. He's got a good feeling about this, and despite being in pain, he has a wonderful rest of his Sunday.

[What Ajax didn't expect was those dreams would continue. Every night, for an entire week, he has explicit dreams of himself and Yoimiya fulfilling every fantasy he ever could of thought of. His sleep is deep and arousing to the point that every morning when he wakes, feelings of lust burn through his system in a way he can't describe. After the first few nights, he finally had to admit to himself that he must be terribly attracted to her to be dreaming about her like this.

Not good, in his opinion. Keeping his vow to himself was going to be hard, no pun intended.

So to say he's a little nervous when he arrives at her doorstep to pick her up would be accurate. It'll be his first time seeing her since the dreams started, and he can already feel his throat go dry as he knocks on her door. When she answers, his face brightens immediately upon seeing her, and his eyes dilate to take her all in.

Her outfit is so cute, and she looks like a snacc in it. It's still modest enough, but those legs don't lie- and after a week of craving her, he can feel something rustle just slightly in his pants.]

Hey, [he says, offering a genuine, warm smile. He's very happy to see her...]

Ready to go? I've been at it all day in the kitchen, and I can't wait to get you back to try some of the food I've prepared.

[ Right on cue, as soon as she hears the knock on the door, Yoimiya wastes no time busting out to greet her lovely date on the other end. She's so happy to see him; her eyes practically sparkle and glisten as she feels his eyes scanning across her body. It was tempting to wear something a little more sexy but she didn't want to scare this poor virgin boy off too soon. And well, looks like she made the right decision since her outfit seems to be a success! It's also tempting to flaunt it and strut her stuff a little but, she doesn't want to make it too obvious she knows.

So instead, she throws her arms around him, pulling him into a tight, warm embrace, conveying how much she's missed him over the course of the week, all the while unaware of the stirrings of something hard growing beneath his pants. ]

Hey, Ajax! I'm so happy to see you, it felt like the longest week of my life.

[ The wait between Sunday and Friday was dreadfully long. Every day, she kept marking off her calendar in anticipation for their next date. ]

Yeah, I'm more than ready. I probably went a little overboard with some of the food on my end but I've been so excited to show you Naganohara Yoimiya's famous miso soup and dango.
