[Ajax stares up at his ceiling as the light streams through his windows, a bright and early morning as he usually starts it. Late to bed, early to rise, that's always been his way. He's still pretty young, so the not-so-great sleep schedule hasn't had time to really take a toll on him, and he takes advantage of it as much as he can. The ginger pulls himself from his bed, sleepily pulling on some workout clothes to head out to the gym, yawning as he drives there to get his workout out of the way and head back home for breakfast and a shower.
Life in this small town has gotten terribly mundane and boring, and he wishes more than anything that there was something, anything that would brighten it up a bit and inject a little excitement into it. He'd debated on moving to a larger city, but he can only afford to live where he is now- he's just hoping to land a job with a much larger salary than what he's making. So it's a life of boredom for now, the only advantage being that his family is very close by, being able to see them whenever he wants. His younger siblings come over from time to time, and he couldn't be more thankful for that, making sure they all had places to sleep if they stay for the weekend and cooking for them every time they want to come over to see their big brother. It's a nice slice of home he still gets to have, but still...
He still can't shake the feeling of there being something missing in his life too. It nags at him and eats at him, almost as if it's there beneath the surface but he can't quite reach it. He's got to shrug it off, not give it too much thought, and go about his day instead- which now that he's home from the gym, consists of going out to his garden before he'll jump in the shower.
The ginger pads across his lawn as he goes to the nice little garden he's got going in his backyard, but there's been something plaguing it- something's been eating all his strawberries recently. He hasn't been able to catch the culprit, and he's hoping that one morning he'll get the opportunity to know what he's dealing with. But whatever it is, it sure does enjoy gnawing away at his fruit, and he hopes it enjoys what its eaten so far.
Ajax doesn't get too far when he spots it. A bunny, smack dab in the middle of his strawberry patch, eating away at the fruit. He can see the part of the little wire fence he'd put up around them to try to keep critters out bent and with an opening big enough to let the bunny in. That's one strong bunny to be able to get through there, he thinks, but no matter how you go about it now, he's finally found who's responsible. He slowly makes his way towards the bunny, knowing it would probably run- but the rest of the patch is fenced in, so he's just got to corner it so he can take it out of his backyard and let it find a home somewhere else. He sneaks up on it and-]
Oh ho, now I've got you!
[He quickly reaches for it to snatch it up in his arms! But will he be successful...]

i made bunny icons for this
This isn't the first time she has been got, naturally, although remarkably it's not happened much too often in her... many, many years of being a rabbit.
How long has it been?
She's not entirely sure anymore. All she remembers, firstly, is her name - Juniper - and that she's not supposed to be this freakishly strong and sturdy rabbit. She's fairly certain that she is supposed to be a freakishly strong and sturdy woman, but she also remembers that she has been cursed into this form for many, many years. By who? And why? And how does she turn back? Those are the answers that have been lost both to the sands of time and to her already-faulty memory.
Regardless, none of it matters now that she's been backed into a corner by this man! She's normally so much more perceptive and attuned to her surroundings and would have made her escape flawlessly, but... she has to admit, he's got the best strawberries in this neighborhood. She was caught up in enjoying how sweet and juicy they were...
As such, he's able to snatch her up in his arms, but she's not going down without a fight! Albeit a very one-sided fight. Almost as immediately his arms wind around her, she gives a little bunny kick with her legs! ]
OH NO THAT'S SO CUTE
Ow! Hey, you can't get mad at me for this! You were the one eating my strawberries...
[He can't help but notice how soft she is, even if he's got an angry bunny in his arms that doesn't want to be caught and only wants to eat all of his strawberries. She's pretty cute too, and there's a part of him that just wants to keep her instead of setting her free somewhere else. But she is a wild bunny, and he probably shouldn't keep her.
Right? Probably. Shouldn't keep her. Hmmmm...]
Look, stop kicking me, and maybe I'll give you some more strawberries, free of charge. That sounds like a good deal, right?
[Talking as if the bunny can understand him. But hey, it's worth a shot, maybe she'll coincidentally stop kicking him just because he spoke it into the world.]

He'll just give her some strawberries? Just like that? If she just stops kicking him? She's not in any position to question it, nor would she even if she had her full wits about her. Strawberries have just such a hold on her...
And so his offer has her ears perking up at full attention, her nose sniffing and twitching, eyes wide with a pleading glimmer to them... Look how cute she is, human... Please, she's a soft, starving bunny! Give her some strawberries! ]

What's with that face? It's almost as if she really did understand him, and now she's begging for strawberries...goodness. If he didn't know any better, she might not be a wild bunny and might be someone's bunny who's trained for that word to stop and be good to get rewarded. Ajax lets a small amused sigh out of his nose as he give the little critter in his arms a smile, deciding to take her inside.
Opening the sliding backdoor of his house, it leads directly into his kitchen where a large center island sits, the counters behind it not small but not large either. It had been a reasonable house he'd managed to buy, but it was important it had a lot of counter space for cooking, and he'd gotten lucky with this one. But where to put her where she wouldn't hop off and poop all over his house? He can't just put her in a box, he's sure she'd hop right out of it, and he doesn't have a cage or carrier. Ajax carries her right to his fridge, to take out a little container of strawberries he'd managed to salvage before she'd eaten them for herself, turning around and setting it down on the center island with her still in his arms. Popping the lid off, he's figured now that he'll just have to hand feed her to make sure she doesn't run off, picking a strawberry up and holding it up right in front of her mouth to bite or take from him as she pleases.]
Here. As promised, one freshly-grown strawberry, just for you.

Juni has been in this form long enough that this is far from the first time that someone has decided to feed her and bring her in. She's even been a pet for a few stints here and there, but each time she has eventually felt compelled to move on for one reason or another... Mostly, a nagging feeling in her little bunny brain that there's something she must do, even though she's never for the life of her been able to remember what that is. Or how to become not a bunny in order to achieve whatever it is.
Over time, however, she has felt that compulsion less and less... And it certainly is the case in this moment, when this fellow cradles her so carefully in his arms and pets her fur so softly...
...And especially so now that he's holding a most delicious-looking strawberry to her face. What choice does she have, really, other than to feast? She looks perfectly comfortable where she is while she leans in to sniff at the fruit with her little twitchy bunny nose before she starts nibbling away at it in earnest. What a funny little bunny she must look, the very picture of contentment with her ears angled back in relaxation, as this is quite possibly the best strawberry she's ever tasted in her entire life. What is he putting in that soil to grow such amazing fruits! ]

But it's decided- he's not releasing her back out into the wild. This is a bunny that belongs in a house, and he hopes that she hadn't been outside for terribly long.]
Look at you, you like those, huh. Who knew my garden would bring in such a cute stray? Guess you'll have to stay here with me, how does that sound?
[He cranes his neck down as he asks her, eyes dilating at how adorable she is eating a strawberry right out of his hand. Who abandoned her? How cruel. People really don't deserve to have pets sometimes, he thinks.]
Well, anyway, guess we'll have to get you a cage and somewhere to go to the bathroom while I'm at work...let's go to the pet store. Maybe I can figure out a name for you on the way.
[It's still a little early, but he's pretty sure they'll be open by the time it takes to drive there. Then she can pick her own bed out.]

When she looks up at him and the vast ocean blue of his eyes, she can't help but wonder if he's lonely, and that's why he's so quick to take in a stray. That would make two of them, wouldn't it? The life of a bunny who's been a bunny but knows she's not quite just a bunny can be lonely, too.
...And he really does have the best strawberries... A fact which is only highlighted by the way her face is just covered in strawberry, even while she answers his question. What does she think of that? Well, she's nudging at his hand with her strawberry-covered nose, which should hopefully be enough to say that she very much likes the sound of that. ]

Since we're in agreement, c'mon. Let's go get you some things so you can stay here.
[Strawberries now put back away into the fridge for later bunny consumption, Ajax carries her around the house as he grabs his keys and slips into some sandals, giving her little scritches behind her ears affectionately before he reaches into his pocket to grab his keys.
Heading with her outside, he goes out to his car, keeping her firmly in his arms so she can't escape. Last thing he needs is her running off now.]
It's not too far. You can hang out in the front seat for the time being, and maybe they'll let me grab a harness and leash for you once we get there...
[It's half muttered to himself and to her, getting ready to get in his car...]

And so that feeling is easily tamped down, especially as warm and cozy she feels in the arms of this stranger. After spending a little bit out in the wild, it's nice to be so pampered and cared for, and she's only been here for like ten minutes. Whoever he is, he must be a kind man. Not many would so easily and readily take a stray animal like he has. He'll find that there's not even a twitch of her little feet to suggest any desire to leap out and run off, sated as she is by the strawberries and lovely little scritches, and she's easily carried off towards the car...
But her realization that they are going into a car is what stirs her alertness once more. She squirms in his arms to stand on her four paws somewhat, ears tipping forward with the front of her body stretching forward, too. She's not being so unruly that he should be worried she'll run off (yet?), but she certainly seems— a bit restless, uneasy, cautious.
She doesn't like being in cars!! They're weird and scary and loud! She's probably almost gotten hit by some in her bunny life! ]
sob i'm sorry for making you wait i've been terb about my psls lately
Do you not like the car? You don't have to worry, it's not going to hurt you...
[He stops trying to get into it, backing away from the car while he thinks. She's been pretty placid until this moment, so he wonders if he distracts her with more strawberries that maybe she'll let him put her in the car peacefully. He really don't have any place to put her without losing track of her, so he's sort of gotta take her with him...]
Okay, okay. I'll make you another deal. You let me put you in the car, and you can have the rest of the strawberries in the fridge.
[Even so, he's turning to go back into the house to get the little pack of strawberries out of it for her, whether he gets any sort of bunny nod or not.]
