your gift keeps on giving / what is this I'm feeling
[Stars littered the vastness of space, accompanied by beautiful nebulae that covered every shade of color imaginable. Oranges mixed with deep reds, others in stunning shades of blue, green and purple- it was a sight to see, but nothing that compared to looking at other galaxies. From a distance, they reminded him of those models in grade school of their own solar system, except these were real, real live galaxies that there was actual alien life and actual civilizations that co-existed with his own home world. It was during these times, when he sat on the bridge of the spacecraft flying it, that he'd sit and stare at the wonders through the various monitors. Magnifying them to see further if it was far away.
Now, he was supposed to be making sure he was navigating through any meteorite fields, or keeping an eye out for any strange phenomenons or black holes to ensure their safety. But Yosuke can't help himself. It's the first real time he's seen outer space. With a press of a button, metal creaks and peels back off of the front of the ship, to reveal a large window. It's made of a material like nothing ever seen on Earth, but it lets Yosuke view the space outside as if it's right in front of him, and in this short amount of time, it hasn't gotten old yet.
He doesn't tell Yu, but at times he alters their course to bring the ship a little closer to another galaxy just so he can get a good view of it. This one only has five planets circling their sun, and readings on his computer systems show that a few of those planets had living conditions that would support human life. He gets an idea- a terrible, amazing idea, and sets the ship into autopilot for a bit.
He has to find Yu, and he does so immediately. He begs to go visit one of those planets, that it would be fun, they'd only be there for a day or so. He prods and pushes until he gets a yes. He says almost anything he needs to to be able to go down there and see the sights. How often does this get to happen? Never, never ever. It's a once in a lifetime deal. So they go, Yosuke travels down to this galaxy and docks. It's a little scary, and he almost screws it up and makes everyone involved worry because this is his first docking and he wasn't really sure how to do it, but they manage to arrive safely.
The atmosphere of the planet is so similar to Earth's, but the entire city is something else. It's as if everything that Yosuke could of imagined a futuristic planet to have was in it. There is no shortage of alien life, people from all different races and cultures walk the streets. He doesn't even see another human besides himself and Yu, and makes sure to avoid any alien that looks like it would rip his head off in two seconds if given the chance. There isn't a place he doesn't drag Yu into that doesn't look creepy. And what's more incredible, is that he absolutely fails to see any socital standards among couples who walk alongside them. And after a short while, his arm ends up hooked with Yu's as they explore the city. It's easier to drag Yu places this way.
And in a city filled with people that he'd only seen in movies, that never existed in his reality until now, this didn't feel so out place. This relationship he has with his best friend. Like any worries he had to begin with were stupid, irrational, and irrelevant.
A day here lasts longer than Earth. And by the time the sun begins to set, Yosuke is exhausted. As they look for a place to stay, they finally find somewhere- it looks like a small hotel, and the two of them enter. Yosuke walks up to the front desk, letting his arm slide out from Yu's to address the alien at the front desk running it. He raises an eyebrow at the strange mucus running out of a hole on the side of its head, but that wasn't the weirdest thing he'd seen today.]
Can we get a room please? Just for tonight. Thanks.
[He slides the card that was given to them, in case they needed to pay for anything. Mostly for repairs, but he figured that this can't be too much. The unknown species of alien takes the card, signs them into a room and gives them some keycards- and winks with four out of five eyes, telling them its no problem and to enjoy themselves. Plus their room is down the hall on the left.]
