The Bet
Yo, Yoimiya!
[The booming voice of Arataki Itto resonates throughout the small apartment they share in downtown Inazuma, a loft that came relatively cheap for its location in the city. The buzzing of cars and people passing by the third story window could be heard all throughout the place, walls thin as a sheet of paper. But with it all comes the excitement of the city, and for these two, a plethora of food to gorge themselves on whenever it came time to feed. Inazuma in this day and age has everything to choose from, and food filtered in from all over the world.
It was a perfect set up for them both.
But for now, Itto sits at their small kitchen bar, eating his dino-shaped chicken nuggets that he'd microwaved from out of the freezer. On the plate is some barbeque sauce to dip them in, and he of course is trying to talk to her with his mouth full.]
Ain't it about time we go out and do some grocery shopping? MAN my stomach has been rumbling for the past week or so.
[In goes another dino nuggie, eating them up like they're water.]
If I don't get some food in me soon, I'm gunna shrivel up and wither away! Hey, you think I could talk Shinobu into...I MEAN, ahem, do you think she'd do us a solid and find us a sweet spot to pick up from?

[What Ajax didn't expect was those dreams would continue. Every night, for an entire week, he has explicit dreams of himself and Yoimiya fulfilling every fantasy he ever could of thought of. His sleep is deep and arousing to the point that every morning when he wakes, feelings of lust burn through his system in a way he can't describe. After the first few nights, he finally had to admit to himself that he must be terribly attracted to her to be dreaming about her like this.
Not good, in his opinion. Keeping his vow to himself was going to be hard, no pun intended.
So to say he's a little nervous when he arrives at her doorstep to pick her up would be accurate. It'll be his first time seeing her since the dreams started, and he can already feel his throat go dry as he knocks on her door. When she answers, his face brightens immediately upon seeing her, and his eyes dilate to take her all in.
Her outfit is so cute, and she looks like a snacc in it. It's still modest enough, but those legs don't lie- and after a week of craving her, he can feel something rustle just slightly in his pants.]
Hey, [he says, offering a genuine, warm smile. He's very happy to see her...]
Ready to go? I've been at it all day in the kitchen, and I can't wait to get you back to try some of the food I've prepared.

So instead, she throws her arms around him, pulling him into a tight, warm embrace, conveying how much she's missed him over the course of the week, all the while unaware of the stirrings of something hard growing beneath his pants. ]
Hey, Ajax! I'm so happy to see you, it felt like the longest week of my life.
[ The wait between Sunday and Friday was dreadfully long. Every day, she kept marking off her calendar in anticipation for their next date. ]
Yeah, I'm more than ready. I probably went a little overboard with some of the food on my end but I've been so excited to show you Naganohara Yoimiya's famous miso soup and dango.

Letting her go, he quickly turns to offer a hand to her so she can take it as they walk together. This also places his crotch at an angle where it's unviewable unless she makes a deliberate effort to look down at it.]
I've been dreaming about it all week, [he says, though doesn't offer more than that. He sure has been dreaming...about her.]
I too, have prepared some of my favorite dishes from my homeland. I made a little more than I can handle by myself...so I guess we're just going to have some leftovers, is all. I definitely won't mind that.

[Ajax's place isn't too far, the two of them passing familiar shops until they arrive in front of a rather large building. It's the kind of building that looks expensive right from the front, and he gently tugs on her hand.]
C'mon. I'm at the top.
[The doorman opens the door for the two of them, and Ajax leads her inside to the lobby. The concierge doesn't bother to stop either of them, upon seeing Ajax, giving him a small nod instead and allowing him to lead Yoimiya to the elevator. There seems to be other security in the lobby as well- but they don't pay the two of them any mind.]
Sorry about all the security. This place is really careful about who they let in, and rightfully so.

Immediately upon approaching the building, Yoimiya is taken aback by the sheer size of his complex. She’s passed by this place a few times, only knowing it as the place where rich people live. Given his job, it doesn’t surprise her that he’s loaded but seeing it in person sure is something else. Yoimiya lets out an impressive whistle as they enter, her eyes dart all across the lobby, marveling at how expansive it is. Naturally, she greets the doorman and security with a bright, polite smile, giving them a nod of acknowledgement before following Ajax into the elevator. ]
Oh, no! Don't be sorry. I get that they're just looking out for their residents.
[ And with how important his job is, she can imagine security really wants to ensure his safety. Not that he can't handle himself; this is the guy who fought a shark with his bare hands. If anything, potential robbers would be signing a death warrant should they break into his place. But she’ll refrain from making a joke in front of the security, last thing she wants is to get kicked out in front of her date for saying something stupid. ]
Goodness, just the lobby is incredible! I never thought I’d be allowed to enter this building in a million years.
[ Or however long her lifespan is. ]
I had a feeling you were well off but I didn’t expect you to live here. All I know about this place is that this is where the rich, fancy folks like to go.

[He leads her into the elevator, which begins its ascension to the very top of the building. Ajax's hands go into his pockets as it goes up and up, continuing to speak.]
It's not a bad place, all things considered! I'm not complaining about it. Good location, nice and secure in the hustle and bustle of the downtown of the biggest city in Inazuma...
[Reaching the top floor, the door opens and Ajax continues down the hall until they reach his door. It's large and heavy, and he only stands in front of it for a moment before there's the audible sound of a click of the door unlocking. Opening the door, he gestures to invite her into his apartment, which turns out to be so much more than just an apartment. The living room is massive, two stories with a giant kitchen off to the side. Outside of it is the built in pool that has a staircase leading up to Ajax's room.
He slips his shoes off and leaves them there in the doorway, walking in and grinning at her. He knew the whole time he really had something cool to show off to her, and it's not even really his. He's going to wow her with his cooking next.]
It's not too shabby. Please, make yourself at home. We don't have to start dinner right away, if you want a moment to relax.

Up they go! Excitement bursts inside her heart as they descend to the top floor. Once they get off the elevator, Yoimiya is bouncing on her heels, following after him as she continues to ooh and ahh at their surroundings. They reach his door, and she's right behind him, practically bouncing in anticipation as she eagerly watches him insert the key into his door to reveal his apartment with a click. She wastes no time following him inside, only to be speechless as soon as she's in.
He was right; there was no need to be impressed yet, because his apartment looked like something straight from those fancy living magazines. Her eyes grow wide at the sight of the living room being two whole stories... just the living room puts her apartment with Itto to shame. BUT NOT ONLY THAT! There's a pool?!?!?! After taking her shoes off, Yoimiya immediately makes a mad dash to the pool, jaw hanging open that something like this even exists in apartments. ]
Not too shabby?! This place looks like a work of art! It's incredible, Ajax!
[ How he managed to snag a place like this is incredible. There's no doubt in her mind, he must be really, really rich. ]
Yeah! I'd like a moment to sit down if you don't mind. I think I need to take a second to catch my breath. I've never been in an apartment this big before...!

Take a seat, dip your toes in the water if you'd like. The remote for the TV is right over there- go ahead and enjoy yourself.
[He gestures towards two small floor seats that barely sit above the water next to the edge, making it easy for someone to let their feet dip into the water without getting anything else wet. A small table rests between them, with said remote sitting on it.]
Would you like a small appetizer and some wine? I'll grab some for us to sit for a few moments out here, so we can enjoy the nice weather.

The water is nice and cool, eliciting a satisfied sigh from her lips. This feels like the life of luxury... ]
Oh, yes please! A snack and some wine sounds lovely.
[ And now she's getting the royal treatment! Yoimiya had a feeling Ajax was gonna be a lovely host but he's exceeding her expectations by going above and beyond. ]
Hehe, you sure know how to treat a girl. Feel free to help yourself to anything in my bag! I have a bottle of sake in there that might catch your interests. Have you had the chance to try hirezake?

[He notes that she's got sake in her bag, which would be a nice pairing with what he's about to bring out, he thinks. Turning, he disappears into his kitchen, grabbing the small appetizers he'd prepared ahead of time. When Ajax returns, he's got a small bowl of salad for her to try, along with a plate that holds small cups of mushroom julienne taken right out of the oven. They are set down on the table, and he walks off again, returning with a few cups, a bottle of white wine, and bowls with utensils for them to use.
He plops down next to her in the chair, sitting back and dipping his toes in the water with a contented sigh.]
Ahhhh...now that's more like it. Please, help yourself to the food. And, if you don't mind, I'd love to try that hirezake.

Goodness, I certainly feel spoiled. Hehe, you really are a gentleman right down to your core.
[ After shooting him a cute wink, Yoimiya stands up to retrieve the first of the goodies she brought for him. Out of the bag comes a box of hirezake and dried shredded squid. Alongside the squid is a small container filled with a mixture of mayo, soy sauce, and a splash of lemon as a condiment. ]
Sooo, this sake is a bit unusual! For starters, we need to get it nice and hot. This is gonna sound strange, but once it's heated, we'll place charred fish fins in a ceramic teacup, pour the piping hot sake over it, and leave it to sit for about three to five minutes. The charred fish fin leaves the sake with a nice, smoky flavor. It's one of those things you gotta try at least once!

He hums while he contemplates the idea of the charred fish fins essentially functioning like a sort of tea bag, with the sake as the tea. That's definitely strange, but he's never going to turn away a dish he hasn't tried before. The squid looks questionable, but then again, it's seafood. All of it looks questionable even when it's delicious.]
Sounds interesting! Here, let me go and heat up the sake for us. I'll be right back with it.
[Ajax will take the bottle from Yoimiya and return with it a few minutes later in a sort of kettle he has in his kitchen, along with a battery-powered heating pad for it to sit on and a plate to dispose the fins on. That way, they can sit here and drink to their heart's content without having to get up for more.]
Alright, I assume you've brought some cups for this, then? Haha, will I get drunk easily off of this?
[He definitely wouldn't mind...]

Anyway, after some respectfully looking, he comes back and she's thrilled to see him with a kettle and a heating pad. He truly does think of everything! Gives her more reasons to be impressed with him. ]
Yup! I got us taken care of. I brought my favorite sake cups of all time.
[ The sake cups in question? It has a goldfish pattern painted on it, of course! She drops the charred fins into the two ceramic cups before setting them down on the heating pad. Now all that's left is to pour the sake over them. ]
Hmmm... I don't think so? Fire-water is a lot stronger than sake, ain't it? But then again, you got pretty drunk at the yakiniku place. I brought quite a bit of sake for us to enjoy, so... yeah, I can't rule out the possibility of you getting drunk. Hehe.
[ While he’s tending to the drinks, Yoimiya goes in to grab a bite of his homemade cooking. She's had her eye on that mushroom dish from the moment he brought it out and now, she can no longer hold back. She wastes no time scooping a portion onto a spoon, popping it into her mouth. As soon as it hits her tongue, she's hit with a decadent flavor like no other. One bite turns into two, until she's gobbled up half of the cup, all the while a symphony of delighted noises spills from her mouth. ]
Mmmm! This mushroom dish is divine, Ajax! It's practically melting into my mouth. What's this called?

It's nice that he met someone who likes to drink as much as he does. He's responsible about it, but at the same time, he loves the feel he gets from being a little loose.]
Mushroom Julianne. It's a favorite of mine, and that recipe is my mother's. I'm glad to see you're enjoying it.
[While the sake steeps, he takes a bit of the salad for himself, just enough to tide him over for another twenty minutes or so. He wants to pace himself, as they have a lot of food to eat.]
I may pass on the second helping of that mushroom julianne if you'd like to eat that as well- I want to keep my stomach on the light side so I can fully experience the effects of this sake. If cooking truly isn't cooking without being a bit tipsy while you're doing it, then a date calls for a deeper level of inebriation. We should play a few games while we eat and drink, what do you say?

[ That's a weird but interesting tradition, and sounds very on brand for Snezhnaya. From what she knows about them, they sure love their Fire-Water. ]
