but if i only get one life / this is what i wanna do
[Sumeru Akademiya, as prestigious as it is, was not a school that Ajax felt like it had taken a great amount of effort to get into.
Only the best and brightest were admitted, and it's not as if he hadn't worked hard to get in. But he had a singular focus- to study the elements and learn everything he could about them to better serve his own interests. He'd hailed from a small village out in the middle of nowhere in Snezhnaya, one that no one had ever heard of outside of a few who were from the same country. And even then, it was a small spot on the map that could barely be seen unless you had a magnifying glass. But that was of no consequence to Ajax, knowing that one day, he'd be known the world over for his skills. The Akademiya was one small step in his journey in a world of gods and monsters, Visions and domains that were to be conquered by only the most brave of souls.
His master wasn't so keen on his decision to join the Akademiya, saying it was a waste and that experience and training is the only hard work he'd need to do, but the young man saw the advantage of using the school to his advantage. Thankful for her continued tutelage, he promised her that he'd still be going out with her on expeditions, and that he still had much to learn from her, Ajax from time to time would be missing from his classes. It never went with much fanfare however, as Ajax didn't have a lot of friends by choice- only those he thought were truly worthy were allowed closer to him than just a friendly smile and wave from time to time in the halls of the Akademiya. He could be social enough on his own, but mostly kept to himself- leaving mystery and rumors about him to spread.
Though he paid it no mind- all he cared for is improving his skills to reach his goals.
Having been missing the day before, Ajax slides into his seat ten minutes late, arm bandaged and looking exhausted. The girl next to him was nice, and he barely knew her name, but he'd exchanged pleasantries with her from time to time. Today, he quickly shoots her a small smile before ducking his head down to keep from being on the receiving end of the professor's ire- chemistry class was one that he actually enjoyed, that helped him learn more about the world of Teyvat and its elemental laws.
Today was a lab day, and thankfully he hadn't been too late to miss out on getting partnered up with one of his classmates.]
...So today we will be covering vaporize reactions, so pair up with someone.
[The professor gazes out at their class, studying the students. Hopefully nothing would go wrong.]
