don't try to make yourself remember darling / don't look for me i'm just a story you've been told

[Why did he have to be the one sent out on this mission?

Childe stretches his arms above his head as he yawns in the back office of Sumeru's branch of the Northland Bank, not open yet to the public. It's annoying that he'd just gotten home from Inazuma, only to be sent back out to Sumeru for something so humdrum and mundane. Supervising the set up of this bank as a home base here in Sumeru City is hardly worthy of his talents, and he's sure that the rest of the Harbingers had this planned for him before he even stepped foot off the boat in Snezhnaya.

The look on Regrator's face when it was decided among them almost makes him snap the pen in his hand in half when he remembers.

But, he tries not to dwell on it too much, despite only being allowed a few days before having to leave again. His siblings were a little sad, which breaks his heart a little, but duty calls even if it's bullshit. At least he likes traveling, and being here means he's not in the presence of his shitty coworkers. Calling them comrades almost feels like a joke sometimes...

The Eleventh decides that in order to get rid of his foul mood, he'll go out and explore the city a little bit. He's never been here before, and Tartaglia finds the setting quite exotic and exciting. Maybe he'll find something in the Grand Bazaar worth taking part in, or maybe he'll try to find a hole in the wall restaurant where he can sample the city's food. Even that thought alone lifts his spirits a little, waving goodbye to the Fatui inside of the bank and letting them know he'll be out for a bit. Inwardly they cringe; what would Lord Childe do here? They're well aware of his reputation.

Stepping out into the street, the first thing he does is head towards the shops to see what's being sold, his eyes wide and bright at all the goods available. He picks up a few local fruits from a vendor to have for later, visits the jewelry store just to see what they have even if he doesn't buy anything. As he exits, that's when he catches a glimpse of a teal and blue getup, Inazuman in style on a first glance, including the kasa he wears despite its Sumeran design. Childe wonders what a guy like that could be doing here, and decides to make it his business. He easily falls into the bustle of the city, but it's not hard to keep a bead on this guy as he follows him down to the Grand Bazaar.

When his mystery man stops at a shop, Childe makes his move, walking up to him as he inspects the goods alongside him.]

Hey, you also seem like you're not from around here...I'm new here, and it's a little comforting to see someone else who may be considered an outlander. You're from Inazuma, right?

[He offers a nice smile to the shorter man, amiable as he always is when he meets someone.]
